Then and Now- Harasha

Hey guys! I finished my latest piece for Dynamite Cupcake Studios! The theme's simple: take a sketch or drawing from way back and either redesign it or make it look better! So here is my old piece dating pre-2007 to now! Tracking your progress as an artist is important and I'm no different either.

Rock Golem!

Here is a little golem I created while trying out some new techniques taught by artist Chris Oatley.
Golem has a little bit of a moss problem but he'll get over it in another season or two.

Character Sketch- Miranda Cub

A cute design of a girl bear.

Jawsome!!

It's Ripster from the show Street Sharks™
honestly I couldn't think of a background off the top my head. I may add one when I think of a good one.
I just realized the short arm and many anatomy issues... I may have to redo or come at this character in another light...

Not 80's but fan art none the less.

Yes, I know I said I'd be doing 80's cartoons but I couldn't resist trying my hand at some sci-fi characters...or more specifically races. This is a Quarian from the Mass Effect™ Game by Bioware®
Enjoy!

A Japanese Tribute.

I felt I had to draw a piece for respecting both the spirits the japanese ancestors as well as the recently departed from the tsunami/earthquake. So here is a boy releasing his lantern at midnight to the sea of japan.
I plan on making this a painting when I get the time.

New piece. New website!

With all that's been going on at school, I've finally  was able to make a website.
And even though I am still compiling the art in it's own sections I am always updating it.
But since you've haven't seen art here in a while I reward you with a peek at a finished page of the children's book illustration! Enjoy! The full lot will be here soon! The story of this Children's Book is called "Chopsticks" a book originally written and illustrated by Jon Berkeley. This is my visual retelling of the story. My new website is www.joshuaotero.com

The Tortoise and the Hare.. and Zbrush!

Alright. I had just received my critiques this week and they were all fair. For my advanced illustration class I had to do a fairytale. So I chose The Tortoise and the Hare.
As for my Zbrush class I learned a lot. understanding the tools. and dealing with certain issues that came with the program. I had fun doing this. I plan on making more during my off times. Despite the fact that my character's eyes were a bit bulging out of his head, I want to refine this craft a bit more. Enjoy!

Elemental Children! -Fire-

After Editing this one I adjusted some of the background so it's at least a bit more visible, otherwise he'd look like he's sitting in a dark background with no story behind it.
Enjoy! Two more elements left!

Elemental Children! -Earth-

After a while of tweaking I finally am satisfied with this. This was an open assignment for School. I turned it in. But I felt it was missing a bit. so I decided to work on the series.
Enjoy! More of the Other elements to come!
